【摘要】:ThisparofEN623specifiesamanualmethodofmakingmeasurementsforthedeterminationofvolumefractionofmajorphasesinadvancedtechnicalceramicsusingmicrographsofpolishedandetchedsections,overlayingasquaregridoflinesandcountingthenumberofintersectionslyingovereachphase,NOTE1Thismethodassumesthatthetruephasevolumefractionsareequivalenttoareafractionsonarandomlycutcross-sectionaccordingtostereologicalprinciples,NOTE2GuidelinesforpolishingandetchingofadvancedtechnicalceramicscanbefoundinAnnexesAandB,Themethodappliestoceramicswithoneormoredistinctsecondaryphases,suchasfoundinAl0/ZrO,Si/SiC,orAl0SiC.Ifthetestmaterialcontainsdiscretepores,thesecanbetreatedasasecondaryphaseforthepurposeofthismethodprovidedthatthereisnoevidenceofgrainpluck-outduringpolishingbeingconfusedwithgenuinepores.NOTE3Ifthematerialcontainsmorethanabout20%porositythereisastrongriskthatthemicrostructurewillbedamagedduringthepolishingprocess,andmeasurementofvolumefractionofporesmaybecomemisleading.Secondaryphasevolumefractionsorporositypresentatlevelsoflessthan005aresubjecttoconsiderableerrorandpotentialscatterinresults,Alargernumberofmicrographsthantheminimumofthreeisnormallyneededtoimprovevtheconsistencyandaccuracyoftheresults,NOTE4Manyceramicscontainsmallamountsofsecondaryglassyphases.Inordertomakeareasonableestimateofglassyphasecontent,theglassmaterialbetweencrystallinegrainsshouldbereadilyobservable,andthusshouldbeatleast0,5μminwidth,ThemethodinthisEuropeanStandardisnotconsideredappropriatefornarrowglassyfilmsaroundgrainsThismethodassumesthattheselectedregionsofapreparedcross-sectionarestatisticallyrepresentativeofthewholesampledsection,NOTE5Microstructuresareseldomhomogeneous,andthephasecontentscanvaryfrommicrographtomicrograph.Itisessentialtosurveyasufficientlywideareaofthepreparedsectiontoensurethatthoseareasselectedforevaluationarerepresentativeanddonotcontaineye-catchingirregularities,SomeusersofthisEuropeanStandardcanwishtoapplyautomaticorsemiautomaticimageanalysistomicrographsordirectlycapturedmicrostructuralimages,ThisiscurrentlyoutsidethescopeofthisEuropeanStandardbutsomeguidelinesaregiveninAnnexC.
